Omid B. Mehdizadeh, MD, is an Otolaryngology, and Head & Neck (ENT) surgeon. Working with colleagues in the Pacific Eye, Ear & Skull Base Center at Pacific Neuroscience Institute, his particular expertise is in voice, swallowing and throat conditions (laryngology).
Dr. Mehdizadeh, a native of Los Angeles, graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with High Distinction in Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology. Thereafter, he completed a year of research in digestive diseases at the Digestive Diseases Research Center at UCLA. He received his medical degree from the University of California at Davis School of Medicine. Following his medical training, he was awarded a research fellowship with world-renowned voice and swallowing expert, Dr. Peter C. Belafsky, MD, PhD, where he published numerous peer reviewed articles focusing on the advanced treatment of swallowing disorders.
Dr. Mehdizadeh completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at New York University. During his residency, he participated in surgical mission trips serving underprivileged and indigenous populations of Central America. He further realized his passion in laryngology when provided the unique opportunity of treating world-class opera and Broadway singers under the guidance of Dr. Milan Amin of Manhattan, New York.
He returned to the University of California at Davis to expand his expertise in complex voice and swallowing disorders while conducting a fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Peter Belafsky at the UC Davis Center for Voice and Swallowing. Dr. Mehdizadeh has presented at international conferences and has received multiple recognitions for his work. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Mehdizadeh has focused his time educating medical and undergraduate students and by providing medical care to disenfranchised populations through community clinics.
